CD Projekt RED and Fuero Games have confirmed a The Witcher Battle Arena release date of January 22nd.
Styled as a MOBA game set in the universe of CD Projekt RED’s The Witcher franchise, The Witcher Battle Arena is being promoted as a, “truly free-to-play game” in that everything can be earned through gameplay.
Featuring 3v3 battles for both online and offline gaming, we first reported on The Witcher Battle Arena last summer when the game was announced, and then later when it snuck into the Canadian App Store.

“[The Witcher Battle Arena] doesn’t just shove MOBA gameplay into mobile devices, but is really built as a mobile-focused experience,” said the press release.
While MOBA games are not too common on mobile devices, we have seen proof that if handled correctly, mobile MOBAs can be a blast.
In an open letter from last November, CD Projekt RED co-founder and joint CEO, Marcin Iwiński, spoke a little on the company’s views on free content and putting the consumer first.
“We love games,” Iwiński said, “we love updates constantly improving the [gameplay] experience, and we feel really special when we receive free content that gives us more than we initially paid for…Unfortunately this treatment is quite rare these days. As gamers, we nowadays have to hold on tight to our wallets, as surprisingly right after release, lots of tiny pieces of tempting content materialize with a steep price tag attached. Haven’t we just paid a lot of cash for a brand new game? As CD PROJEKT RED, we strongly believe this is not the way it should work.”
While Iwiński is speaking about The Witcher 3 directly in that post, it reflects the company’s vision as a whole, and that certainly is promising for The Witcher Battle Arena.
