The Blocks Cometh Preview

There’s an old proverb: “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” It wasn’t too long ago that we reported on how EdisonGame stole The Blocks Cometh from developer Halfbot. However, it wasn’t just Halfbot’s creation that was stolen. The illicit version of the game featured a character from League of Evil. Needless to say, the two wronged developers were more than a little upset with how their hard work was being ripped off, but it’s probably safe to assume that nobody expected the two to wind up joining forces.

The Blocks Cometh soon to the App Store

League of Evil was just released for the iPhone, and it’s admittedly pretty brilliant. Now, it turns out that The Blocks Cometh is about to launch for the App Store, and both Doucett and Halfbot are providing content for each other’s games.

According to an email from Halfbot, “after our game was stolen from us and ported to the iPhone, using the League of Evil‘s character, we thought ‘Why not do this team up for real?’. We contacted the League of Evil developers Ravenous Games and WoblyWare and they were right on board from the start. So as a special treat for our gamers; you can now play The Blocks Cometh using characters from League of Evil and through some Blocks Cometh styled levels in the League of Evil‘s next update!”

The Blocks Cometh is set to include in-game characters of the ninja from League of Evil, as well as Mr. Destructoid (a nod of thanks to Destructoid’s help in alerting Apple to the fraud). Even more exciting though, is the fact that the game has been submitted to the App Store, so gamers should be able to check out the iPhone version shortly.

The Blocks Cometh The Blocks Cometh

The Blocks Cometh is an action survival game that requires players to climb piles of blocks that fall out of the sky. The general goal is to maneuver a small on-screen character up the piles without getting crushed by the blocks as they drop down. This is easier said than done, as the game is incredibly fast-paced. Players can run around, jump over, bounce off, and shoot dropping blocks… but as soon as a block lands on a character, it’s game over.

The iPhone version is set to include the crazy 8-Bit goodness that the Flash game featured, as well as some high-adrenaline MIDI-like music to round out the overall experience.

If you haven’t played the high-speed survival game yet and would like to check it out before you buy it, you can still play the Flash version of The Blocks Cometh here.
