The classic Twilight Zone episode “It’s a Good Life” is all about a town that’s held hostage by the whims of a little boy with godlike powers. It’s a terrifying bit of television because the boy, Anthony, is subject to the fits of temper and pettiness that are part of any childhood phase — except instead of having to suck things up and learn about disappointment, he can dole out horrible punishments on the targets of his displeasure.
DDT Games’ upcoming life sim ThanksGiving Life puts you in an “Anthony” role. You literally become a god to the denizens of a city — you’re interpreted as a floating hand, just to put an exclamation point on your position in these mortals’ lives — and interact directly with them.
So the question is, do you want to be a nice god, or a jerk god? Like, do you want to personally hand a piano to one of these mortals to encourage their inborn gift of music? Or do you want to drop the instrument on their heads and give them a really, really bad day? Because this piano thing could go either way.
It’s up to you, but be warned: If you’re too mean, your charges might stop sucking up to you. Well, who cares about the opinions of a few flesh-smears, anyway? Right?
