Super Phantom Cat Looks like Retro Platforming Goodness

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a proper no frills, vintage-style platformer on the App Store that caught our eye. Super Phantom Cat looks like it could fill that void when it launches next Monday, with its developers citing Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong, and Sonic as inspiration.

“You’ll need quick reflexes as you pull off incredible feats such as bouncing on a monster’s head to land on a difficult-to-reach platform,” says the team behind Super Phantom Cat, or rapidly jumping between small platforms to get across a massive chasm.” If you’re looking for a hardcore platforming challenge, it sounds like this could be it.

In addition to quick reflexes, players will need a sharp eye to grab sprites that will give your phantom kitty powers like teleportation, shooting, and more.

It’s colorful, it’s poppy, and my gut says it looks like plenty of fun. Find out if my gut is right when Super Phantom Cat launches on the App Store on Monday, January 25th.
