Subway Surfers Preview

Subway Surfers for iOS lets you perform cool stunts that are not recommended in real life

Open wide: here comes the choo-choo train. Kiloo, the studio behind last year’s pretty rockin’ Frisbee Forever, has a new project in the works called Subway Surfers. Subway Surfers is a futuristic racing/stunt iOS game featuring three rebellious youths, and no, it has nothing to do with riding a $5 Footlong on a wave.

Subway Surfers stars three punk kids named Jake, Tricky, and Fresh, all of whom apparently have a taste for applying paint to public transportation vehicles, and surfing on and behind said vehicles on their Back to the Future-style hoverboards (it was true in 1989, and it’s true today: we want one of those things). Unfortunately, a big coppa known only as “The Inspector” isn’t about to let the kids indulge freely in their after-school activity, and he chases after them constantly with his pitbull.

Gameplay-wise, you direct the kids as they grind on subways and surf on their hoverboards. You swipe your iOS screen to perform tricks and acrobatics, and you utilize a paint-powered backpack to leap high distances. Eventually, you assemble your own graffiti crew, and you can either compete against your real-world pals, or help them out whenever they’re in need.

Meanwhile, the Inspector is always watching you—and though you wouldn’t believe it, he can hustle that bulk of his when he needs to.

Subway Surfers is coming to iOS in May 2012. In the meantime, stay off the third rail.
