Shut up and Take My Money: Futurama Is Getting a Mobile Game

San Diego Comic Con is a place where dreams come true. For some, that means getting to see the latest trailers and hearing major announcements about their favorite nerdy franchises.

For others, like me, it means the joy of learning that one of your favorites isn’t as completely dead as you thought.

The universally loved, often cancelled cartoon sitcom Futurama took its final bow in the Fall of 2013. After 7 seasons, 3 direct-to-video movies, and nearly 15 years of fandom, it was a bittersweet moment. It was, we were told, the end.

…but no franchise truly ends these days, does it?

Announced today at SDCC, Fox is publishing a mobile game based on the series. There are zero details behind the “this is a thing” announcement and a teaser image on Facebook that says “Release the Drones.” This could be the name of the game or a well-placed piece of marketing propaganda. We’re honestly not sure.

Fox hasn’t announced who’s developing, but we’ve done a little digging and it looks as though Wooga is likely responsible for Futurama’s first voyage to the mobile planet. The image on the game’s official website? It’s stored at cdn-mkt.wooga.com. And if you look really closely, you can see the company’s logo on one of the buildings in the background:
