Phosphor Games Studio, the studio behind the excellent action / RPG Horn, is working on a new project that’s full of bang-bang shoot-shoot: WARP, coming soon to mobile platforms.

WARP, which stands for “Warriors of the Red Planet” (memorize it – there will be a test later) is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) that takes place on Mars. It’s the distant future, and life on Earth is so rank that the planet’s poor and destitute flee to the god of war’s pad. When Mars’s colonizers discover a potent energy source, Earth decides to get grabby. Thus the fighting begins.

WARP features a side-scrolling perspective, which is pretty unique for a MOBA. Battles are three-on-three, and there’s a slew of interesting classes to use, heavy artillery experts, women wielding goddess-like powers, and space cowboys that command robot dogs.

No word yet on a release date, but interested Martians can sign up for beta pre-registration at WARP’s website. The trailer below shows off the game in action.
