While the main wing of Rovio seems to keep a tight focus on expanding their Angry Birds franchise, the Rovio Stars program has seen a number of  releases from third-party developers over the last year or so. Plunder Pirates, Tiny Thief, Juice Cubes – all released under the Rovio Stars label. So what’s next for Rovio’s third-party publishing initiative?

Jolly Jam – a new matching game from developer Magic Tavern.

The market might be flooded with matching games nowadays, but to earn a spot in the Rovio Stars program, you’ve got to think that Jolly Jam does something special. In this case, we’re not actually talking about a match-3 game. Jolly Jam is a game about creating boxes by dragging your finger between matching fruits to create corners. Any of the same fruit trapped within that box will clear from the board.

It’s a neat premise, but will it be fun? Find out when Jolly Jam hits the App Store, Google Play, and Facebook soon.
