Mobile strategy fans rejoice! ROME: Total War, the classic RTS from Creative Assembly, is heading to iPad. And we’re talking a full, unabridged port of the 2004 smash, in case you were worried about getting a diluted version.

The game is set to come out in Fall this year, and it’ll only be available for iPad. It’d be a little too fiddly to try and play the game on a smaller touchscreen, but it does mean strategic iPhone gamers are going to be disappointed.

You can check out the game running on an iPad in the announcement trailer below. It certainly looks like everything is in place, with all the giant battles fans of the series have come to love on show.

The game is being ported by Feral Interactive, which has been working in close conjunction with Creative Assembly to ensure the game is as good as it can be.

“ROME: Total War is still one of our most critically acclaimed Total War titles to date and a firm fan favourite,” said Rob Bartholomew, Total War Brand Director at Creative Assembly in a press release. “We are thrilled to work closely with Feral on the iPad release and excited that players will get to experience ROME: Total War on a whole new platform for the first time.”

The game will hit the App Store later in the year, with the ROME: Total War – Barbarian Invasion and ROME: Total War – Alexander expansions following afterwards.

Simon has been playing portable games since his Game Boy Pocket and a very worn out copy of Donkey Kong Land 2, and he has no intention of stopping anytime soon. Playing Donkey Kong Land 2 that is. And games in general we suppose.
