Mr Qwak looks to bring top-down racers back to their roots with Retro Racing

Top down racers aren’t quite as common as they used to be, but Mr Qwak is looking to change that with their brand new game Retro Racing set for release later this February on the iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.

Drawing inspiration from a few older racing games such as Nitro and ATR (originally released on the Amiga), Retro Racing allows you to choose your car and then race around the track while collecting power-ups to win each race. And that inspiration doesn’t run too far from the source. Both of these Amiga classics were created by Jamie Woodhouse – the man behind the Mr. Qwak name. (as you can probably guess, he’s also the same Jamie Woodhouse behind the game Qwak).

The power-ups you can collect to give you that extra edge will allow you to gain a higher top speed, accelerate quicker, gain greater grip on your car, and the ability to add nitro to your car that boosts it ahead of the pack.

Making your way down the track won’t always be easy however, as you will have to dodge cones in your path, and of course watch out for the other racers in your way. All this while trying to master the perfect racing line on each track, that will really let you speed ahead of the pack.

Retro Racing is set to launch on iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch sometime later this month. Make sure to follow the game right here on Gamezebo so that you’ll be the first to know when you can put the pedal to the metal in this classically inspired racer.
