Pokémon Trading Card Game for iPad Now in Canada

About six weeks ago, we gleefully brought you the news the Pokémon Trading Card Game was coming to the iPad. And now, if you live in Canada, we bring you equally joyous tidings: you can download and play Pokémon TCG Online for free on your iPad thanks to the Canadian App Store.

We haven’t spent enough hands-on time to really give you a first impression, but fans of the existing desktop versions might be surprised to learn that in-app purchases are available. You’ll be able to buy digital booster packs and theme deck using gems according the the game’s FAQ, and it sounds like they’ll be rolling out to the desktop version as well (the FAQ seems to suggest that gems are being tested in Canada for that right now too).

If you’ve ever been a fan of Pokémon cards, or were merely curious, now is a great time to scratch that itch. I’ve played a few rounds in the past myself, and loved every minute of it. The promise of being able to do it with a digital opponent can’t help but put a smile on my face.
