Maybe it’s been a while since you’ve played the totally excellent (and totally free!) turn-based strategy game Outwitters. It was initially released in summer of 2012, and in this fast-moving era of disposable mobile games, three years may as well be a lifetime.
Well rise and shine, warriors. It’s time to return to the hexagons. Outwitters 2.0 is coming in March – and the massive update will serve as the game’s debut on Android as well (which, yes, has slipped well past its original plans for a January release).
According to a press release distributed by One Man Left Studios, Outwitters was practically rebuilt from the ground-up in order to get the game running on Android. The overhaul comes with a whack of improvements, including faster load times, new animations, smoother performance, and coolest of all, cross-play between iOS and Android owners. See? We can get along.
In Outwitters, you compete against one to three other players. You destroy rivals’ bases by investing resources (called “wits”) to recruit reinforcements and navigate around enemy defenses. There’s a bunch of weird fighters to choose from and contend with, including thorny octopi and a teleporting narwhal. These guys must’ve survived the perils of Red Lobster’s kitchen, so you know they’re legit.
Look for Outwitters 2.0 in March. In the meantime, you can download the current version from the App Store.
