If your ears are finely tuned to the nuances of classical musical, you’ll no doubt be familiar with Mozart’s ‘The Magic Flute.’ An opera about love, serpents, and kidnapping (OPERAS ARE AWESOME), it would be Mozart’s last before his untimely death.

But what if Mozart didn’t die at 35? What if he lived to the ripe old age of 259? What would he be doing today?

My guess is mobile games.

Ok, maybe that’s not the exact path that led to the creation of Lablike’s upcoming puzzler ‘Magic Flute,’ but it’s darned close. The game is based on Mozart’s final opera, and uses it as both inspiration and musical score.

Even cooler, the art style is based on the production work of Amon Miyamoto, a noted Japanese opera director… who just put on a performance of The Magic Flute drawing inspiration from LabLike’s game.

INCEPTION!

Patrons of the performance were given exclusive access to the Japanese version of the game, which makes me think the final release can’t be too far off. Expect to be humming along to this one in Fall 2015.
