The first teaser trailer for Scott Cawthon’s upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s-inspired RPG, FNAF World, went up on Halloween.

The trailer is lightly humorous and highly adorable. It pokes fun at itself for presenting candy-colored versions of Freddy, Bonnie, Chica (and over a dozen additional characters) — the nightmare animatronics that stalk and kill you through all four games in the Five Nights at Freddy’s series.

Aw! Look at that! And that music! So happy!

There’s no way we’re not being trolled.

Turns out we didn’t have to wait long to receive hints that FNAF World isn’t as sunny as first impressions suggest. The main page for the game previously had a picture of the cast. That picture has since been blacked out, and when fans lightened it, they got a grim surprise: the chibi interpretation of Mangle shown at the end of the trailer, hanging by its neck, dangling above the words “SEE WHAT YOU’VE ALL DONE?”

Well. Isn’t this something.

FNAF World is coming to mobile and PC next year. No doubt Scott will continue to string us along until then, so to speak.
