The Five Nights at Freddy’s games are all about surprises (usually the kind that make you pee your pants a little bit), and series creator Scott Cawthon recently dropped two biggies about the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy’s 4.

First: The game has a release date. August 8. That’s much earlier than October 31, the release date that was initially announced. Cawthon told YouTube streamer Dawko that he’d like to get number four out the door in time for the series’ first anniversary — but in order to keep the initial Halloween release date special, the game will receive a free content update in time for Pumpkin Eve.

Second, the first trailer for Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 is available, and the game seemingly takes place in a house instead of a pizza parlor.

Moreover, the animatronics appear to be living dolls / satanic toys this time around. Going by the trailer, they hide in your closet and on your bed. Oh boy, this shouldn’t induce any horrible flashbacks to previous childhood traumas!

What’s going on? Why are we in a house instead of a pizza joint this time around? Will we have to cook our own pizza, like peasants? We’ll surely find out more in the days to come. In the meantime, watch your back.
