Deer Hunter Reloaded Preview

Have you ever dressed up like Elmer Fudd at the height of rabbit season and trekked off into the woods? Me neither. But even if hunting’s not your thing, fans of games like Contract Killer may want to take note of this one. Sure you won’t be taking shots at mobsters or zombies in Deer Hunter Reloaded, but you will be wielding a weapon that’s been crafted under the supervision of the very same publishers – Glu Games. And really, what’s Contract Killer but a hunting release about the deadliest (and undeadliest) prey of all?

Deer Hunter Reloaded will take players on a simulated hunting expedition in the North American wilderness as players pursue all kinds of wild animals, from elk to bears. To aid you in your hunt, Glu will be providing players with 16 upgradable weapons, scopes to improve accuracy, and a special X-Ray mode where you’ll be able to target specific organs in each animal. According to Glu, this will allow you to get “the ultimate bragging shot.”

Visually the game seems to be fairly impressive, but that really shouldn’t be too much of a shock – these are the folks that brought us Blood & Glory, after all. And speaking of things to look at, it should be neat to see the game handles its promise of a “trophy room.” Will it be just a gathering of OpenFeint and GameCenter achievements? Maybe. But we’re going to hold out hope that any prize-winning bucks we take down get a special place on our wall of fame.

Deer hunting season might be a long way off (or it might not be – I’ve honestly never held a gun in my life), but virtual deer hunting season is right around the corner! Expect to get your venison-loving hands on Deer Hunter Reloaded when it hits iOS and Android on March 29th.
