The iOS port of Darkside is due out June 26 as a free download. If you like it, an in-app purchase unlocks additional mission types and in-game weapons. Judging by the glowing reviews this game received when it was first released on the Mac and PC, I’d say it’s worth a look. It even won a couple game of the year awards, so there’s no reason not to give it a shot once it’s available on your iPhone. Unless you don’t like fun or shoot’em ups.
If you don’t like fun or shmups, then maybe you should steer clear. But if the idea of guiding a ship across the surface of a spherical stage ala Mario Galaxy, while blowing up bad guys ala Mutant Storm, while blowing up asteroids ala… well… Asteroids, then you should keep your eyes peeled for Darkside.
It’s the kind of game that you can play happily for three minutes on the bus,or for two hours while parked in your Lazy Boy. There’s nothing quite so theraputic as causing lots and lots of explosions. Just look at these screenshots.
