Regardless, they recently announced Crazy Fairies, a turn-based, free-to-play title featuring cross-platform play. That was a lot of hyphens!
Inspired by the Worms series, Crazy Fairies is an item-centric warfield that pits player against player – or player against computer, if that’s more your style. No matter which one you choose, you’ll be invited to customize your characters, weaponry, and “personal space” to high heaven. Because fairies need homes too, you guys.
But don’t you dare go thinking Crazy Fairies will only contain fairies. I mean, it’s not like the name implies that in any way. The game will also feature characters like Godfather Death, Master Cat, and a host of other characters inspired by fairy tale archetypes. I don’t want to tell you your business or anything, but I have a feeling Master Cat will be the greatest of them all.
If you’re allergic to cats, you can always purchase a new character through the in-game shop. You can also pick up weapons, cards, stickers, and wallpaper. Interestingly, you’ll be able to trade or sell off your gear to afford new items. It’s not often you see a system like that in a free-to-play game, and it seems like a very nice touch.
Crazy Fairies will arrive later this summer on iOS, Android, PC, and Mac. I recommend playing it on every single platform simultaneously, mostly because you’d be surrounded by screens and devices and it would be funny. No matter how you choose to play, though, it’s clear you’ll enjoy yourself. Especially if, like myself, you’re a fan of the Worms series. There are far worse games to draw inspiration from.
