Oh, and Zynga probably wouldn’t have announced a game called ChefVille at their Unleashed event. But they did, so I’ve now proven with horrible, disjointed logic that we all love food.

ChefVille places you in the role of a budding chef on a mission to create the ultimate 4-star kitchen. Expanding your culinary offerings is one of the biggest ways to do this, and with practice you’ll be able to make dishes that range from orange chicken to steak Florentine. It’s kind of like one of those random “steak and sushi” restaurants you see on occasion, only with the potential to actually be good.
If watching a virtual chef slave over a virtual stove isn’t enough to satiate your love for virtual cooking, you’ll be pleased to know that mastering recipes results in a real-life recipe arriving in your inbox. It’s a great way to inspire players of the game to improve their cooking skills – something many of us could use. Come to think of it, maybe we should tell those steak and sushi places about this…
True to Zynga form, the game will place a very heavy emphasis on social. Players will be able to visit the restaurants of others, as well as eat the food they make. I realize that sounds like nothing more than a novelty, but it actually has the potential to improve your own restaurant. In the demonstration I was shown, the player didn’t have the oranges required to make orange chicken. In response, they hopped on over to their friend’s restaurant and ate orange chicken there. Doing so resulted in them earning an orange. Because video games.
Launching on both Facebook and the Zynga.com platform, players can expect to put their chef hats on in the near future. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be sad when you discover that it doesn’t fit your head at all. On the bright side, though, you’ll look like the Swedish Chef muppet. Who could ask for more?
