Gameloft loves their Asphalt series. The last entry, Asphalt 8, has been everything from the first mobile game with Twitch integration to Gameloft’s first game to get Metal optimization in iOS 8. In short, they know a winner when they see one. The next game in the franchise has just been announced.
The Asphalt Overdrive release date is this Thursday, September 25th, and pits players against the police in a “new 80’s version of California.” It sounds a little like Need for Speed Rivals meets Vice City, which…. awesome.
A Gameloft representative described the game to us as a spin-off, so we’re thinking this isn’t the inevitable Asphalt 9. Still, knowing Gameloft, they’ll pack in more than enough game to keep you busy. Expect Asphalt Overdrive on the App Store and Google Play this Thursday.
