Tonight’s 4 New iPhone Games You Won’t Want to Miss

Something distinctly indie is in the air this week. With Crashlands and Dungelot: Shattered Realms coming tonight, we have two hotly anticipated indie projects going head-to-head for your attention on the App Store. And they’re not alone, either! There’s a pair of other indie games arriving that look like perfect candidates for your playtime too.

I suppose the question isn’t “what will you be playing this week?” so much as “what will you be playing first?”

Crashlands

Oh man. It’s hard not to get excited about this one. Two years in the making, Crashlands is Butterscotch Shenanigans approach to the Don’t Starve school of survival gameplay that’s been exquisitely streamlined for mobile play. We’ve been playing Crashlands in pre-release, and we’re happy to report that it lives up to even our loftiest expectations.

Dungelot: Shattered Realms

If you’re into roguelikes, there’s a very good chance you’ve played Dungelot or Dungelot 2. The third entry in the series looks to be the biggest, most polished Dungelot yet (possibly because of their partnership with tinyBuild Games, who also released the exquisite Punch Club this month). If you’ve somehow missed the previous games, Shattered Realms looks like an excellent place to start.

Pirate Power

They don’t release new titles often, but when Godzilab decides it’s time to bring something to the App Store, you need to pay attention. This is the team responsible for iBlast Moki, Stardunk and Happy Street — three App Store gems that we adored here at GZ. Their latest is, according to the team, “a RPG adventure filled with boats, cannons, heroes, powers, huge bad guys, exploration, discoveries and pirates!” What’s not to love?

Sky Chasers

Old school platforming in a cardboard box. Games don’t get more indie than that. The gameplay looks like it may take a little inspiration from Heroki — and considering that was one of our favorite games of 2015, that’s not a bad place to take inspiration from.
