It’s not as though 2015 has been a *bad* year for mobile games, but before March, it didn’t seem like we’d seen much in the way of Game of the Year contenders.
This month that changed. A lot.
I’ll leave it up to you to decide which games I’m talking about (though, spoiler: I may have mentioned them as GOTY possibilities on the site before). Have there been any games you’d put in that category yet? Be sure to let us know in the comments, or tweet us at @gamezebo.
Adventures of Poco Eco – Lost Sounds
As a partner project for iamyank’s latest album, Poco Eco is as much a journey about sound as it is about gameplay. In fact, it’s not even all that challenging. But the interactive environments, gorgeous settings, and fantastic beats all come together to form an atmosphere unlike anything else we’ve played. If you’re looking for a relaxed, hypnotic adventure with a fantastic soundtrack, this is it.
- Adventures of Poco Eco – Lost Sounds Review (4.5 stars)
Five Nights at Freddy’s 3
Five Nights at Freddy’s is more than a video game series — it’s a phenomenon. With a complete trilogy released in less time than it takes most developers to make one game, Scott Cawthon took the world by storm this year while simultaneously scaring the bejeezus out of it. There’s reason to believe this entry might be the series last, and if it is, we’re very pleased with how it ended.

Blockwick 2
If you’re a fan of puzzle games, you probably know the Kieffer Bros (and if not, you should). These sibling developers have been making mobile gems for years now, and Blockwick 2 might just be their crowning achievement. A sequel to 2011’s Blockwick, Blockwick 2 smacks of polish, refinement, and evolution.

TouchTone
A mix of challenging puzzles, social commentary, and compelling narrative made TouchTone a surprise hit in our books this past month. Be warned, though: this is a game for those who want a solid challenge. Be prepared to revisit puzzles over and over in some instances before you have that “a-ha!” moment that lets you proceed.
- TouchTone Review (5 stars)
Sid Meier’s Starships
A spin-off from Civilization: Beyond Earth, Sid Meier’s Starships takes the spirit of the Civ series and reimagines it with all new, combat-heavy gameplay. Conduct fleet-on-fleet battles using little more than your wits… well, that and the biggest, baddest armada you can muster.
- Sid Meier’s Starships (5 stars)
Stormblades
If you’ve been longing for a return to the swipe-and-tap gameplay of Infinity Blade, Stormblades is your must-play game of the month. Sure, the combat has a clear “inspired by” feel to it, but Kiloo and Emerald City Games managed to keep things moving at a faster pace, with plenty of titans to topple.

Game of Thrones Episode 3
Telltale is *usually* a name associated with quality, but when it came to Game of Thrones on mobile, things were off to a rocky start. Technical glitches hampered the experience in the series first two episodes, holding back what potentially could have been a great experience. With Episode 3: The Sword in the Darkness, those glitches were finally ironed out. What we were left with was a fantastic tale befitting both the world of Westeros and Telltale’s stellar reputation.
