Do you have “best of” hangover yet? We’ll forgive you if you do. Talking about the best iPadiPhone and Android games of 2015 wore us out.

But hey — that’s no reason to forget about all of the best games that arrived in December 2015.

Badland 2

badland 2

One of the prettiest games to ever hit the App Store got a sequel in December 2015, and while short, it changes the game in a few significant ways. For one thing, you can now control direction. For another… lasers! And a myriad of other challenges to overcome, including maps that travel up and down in addition to the original’s left-to-right.

Grayout

Grayout Review

Have you ever had trouble finding the right words? Words that were on the tip of your tongue, but just couldn’t connect to your brain or voice? That’s what playing Grayout feels like. It’s a wildly original experiment in interactive fiction where you’ll need to choose responses as you watch your communication skills breakdown before your eyes.

Geometry Dash Meltdown

Geometry Dash Meltdown review

The original Geometry Dash is a perennial favorite on the App Store, and this free-to-play sequel makes it pretty clear why. Hypnotic rhythms and fiendishly designed levels make this fast-paced auto-runner as difficult as it is addictive.

Cut the Rope: Magic

Face it: you’ve gone too long without more Om Nom in your life. Cut the Rope Magic brings the little guy back in his best puzzle adventure yet. Not only are the visuals light years beyond what’s come before, but you’ll be given a magical new skill to tackle the game’s puzzles: shape-shifting. Admit it, there’s nothing as cute as Om Nom in mouse form.

A Good Snowman is Hard to Build

There has never been a shortage of Sokoban-style block-pushing games for digital players — but how many of them bring the timeless art of snowman construction into the mix? You’ll need to roll the little balls on top of the big balls to get your snow-friends just right. With plenty of personality and top-notch puzzling, A Good Snowman is Hard to Build is easy to recommend.

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Scribblenauts Unlimited review

The Scribblenauts games have always been a great fit for mobile audiences, and even though this one originally debuted on other consoles in 2012, Scribblenauts Unlimited’s arrival on mobile is just as fantastic as the day it first launched. Like other entries in the series, you’ll be given a problem that you can solve using anything you can think of. Just type it in and see what happens.

Maestria

Maestria review

Forgive Maestria its familiar appearance; it may look like another minimalist puzzle game, but Maestria is an experience all its own. And it’s one that revolves around sound. Manipulate the world around your heroine to ring the bells in the correct order across 160 beautiful, zen-like levels.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
