The 6 Best iPhone, iPad and Android Games of October 2015

Can you feel it? That crispness in the air? That’s a sure sign that the end of the year is coming; and with it, “best of the year” roundups.

As we edge nearer and nearer to our best of 2015, we take a look at everything October managed to deliver — and boy oh boy were there some big contenders this time around.

Guitar Hero Live


As part of their continuing efforts to blur the lines between smartphone games and console games, Activision released their new Guitar Hero game on all devices on the same day, offering a retail package that delivered iOS gamers with an identical experience to their console counterparts. Heck — with the right equipment, you can even play this one on your TV.



A good pair of boots should be comfortable, dry, and have very little recoil. At the very least, that’s what you’d want in a pair of gun boots. Downwell is one of the best action games we’ve seen on mobile this year, tasking players with a descent into a hole armed only with bullet-spewing boots for protection.

Trying to give a sandbox series like Minecraft a story feels a little like putting a square peg into a round hole — fortunately, the narrative masters at Telltale brought the right tools to make it fit. Heavy on the humor and light on the gameplay, Minecraft Story Mode proved to be a pretty great romp in the first two episodes — both of which were released in October.
