We had some hard choices to make, but we think we’ve made the right ones. We’ve got RPGs, classic ports, puzzlers, car-based sports games and more. We reckon there’s something for everyone here.

A brilliant port of a brilliant RPG that shows just how impressive mobile gaming can be. It’s deep enough to feel bottomless, there’s an amazing story and it looks utterly stunning. There’s even same device co-op. You’ll need a high end iPad to run it, but it’s definitely worth it.
A big, dumb, kicky punchy ARPG that’s packed full of super heroes, super villains and super somewhere-in-betweens. It looks lovely, there’s always something to do and it’s hard not to get tangled up in its gameplay loops.
Side-on car chaos with a ball. Bounce and flip to score goals, team up with other players and take on gamers from around the world. This one captures everything that made the original so great, then squishes it down into a perfect mobile package.
Sneak through a deserted space station and try to stay enough steps ahead of an extraterrestrial killer that it can’t smash its extra mouth through your head. This is a classic of modern survival horror, and it’s just as good on mobile.
This one’s a found-phone mystery thriller set in the Whoniverse. And it features the scariest alien killers this side of the last alien killers we wrote about. Solve puzzles, make choices, and try and avoid the Weeping Angels.
Fight your way through battle royale skirmishes in this sort-of-sequel to FF7. It takes the shape of your usual BR, then throws in summons, skills and chocobos. What’s not to love about all of that?
A soothing experience that’s more like a digital toy than an actual game. There are no goals or levels – just take some time to build the best city you can by dragging your finger around the screen. A great way to spark the imagination.
Find out what happened to your extended family in a series of dark, different vignettes. Experience the day of a family member’s death and try to figure out just what’s been going on. This is a deep, engaging exploration of life and death and everything in-between.
In the aftermath of a devastating apocalypse, it’s up to you to try and rebuild the world. Except this isn’t another grey and brown wasteland sim. It’s full of bright colors, bright characters and more than several bucket loads of charm.
One of the very best puzzle games of recent years. Instead of manipulating the world, you’re manipulating the rules in each level to try and open up a path to the exit. Every challenge makes you think in new and exciting ways.
