2020 has been a brilliant year for mobile gaming so far. There’s been action, adventure, strategy, sports and much, much more. So we thought it was a good idea to make a list of the very best mobile experiences that have come out this year.
Give the list a read and we reckon you’re going to find something new to keep you entertained. We’ve tried to include a mix of hidden gems and bonafide classics. In other words, there’s something for everyone.

Meteorfall: Krumit’s Tale
The sequel to one of the best solitaire card crawlers on mobile builds on everything that made its predecessor great to make something… greater. Seriously, this one fizzes and pops with super bright ideas.
Mixing together ideas from roguelikes, CCGs, dungeon crawlers and loads more, Krumit’s Tale balances everything brilliantly to create a fresh and exciting adventure.
Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition
One of the best FF games, but in the palm of your hand. This one’s a multiplayer dungeon crawler with some amazing ideas. There’s a wonderful world to discover, packed full of intriguing characters.
Throw in cross-platform play and you’re left with a brilliant package that’s hard to sniff at. If you’ve never played Crystal Chronicles, you should rectify that as soon as is humanly possible.
The classic space-faring MMO now has a mobile version. It’s been built from the ground up for touchscreen devices, and it’s a pretty damn impressive experience. Seriously, check out the trailer below.
There’s a massive universe to explore, loads of ships to discover and a whole lot more. However you want to play, whether it’s trading, adventuring or slaughtering, Eve Echoes lets you give it a go.
A super-smart mixture of a turn-based battler and a real-time shooter, Gun Rounds takes its cues from a bunch of different genres. And it manages to blend them all together into a super-successful experience.
The game has been out on PC for a while, but it works amazingly with touchscreen controls. Imagine superb roguelike Downwell getting in a fight with a game of chess and you’re about a fifth of the way there.
A brilliantly put together deep-space blaster that sees you piloting a ship in intense dogfights. There are roguelite elements here as well – die and you’ll lose all of your upgrades, bail out before the end comes and you’ll get to keep them.
There’s loads to like here, from the gorgeous graphics to the deeply engaging combat. The space shooter might have fallen from grace in recent years, but Interloper proves it’s got a home on mobile.

Slay the Spire
A brilliant and engaging deck-building rogue like with a slow burning story and a hefty chunk of tactical thinking. You’re definitely going to lose hours of your life to this one.

Raiders of the North Sea
A board game adaptation that sees you setting sail on the north sea to compete for glory with other Viking clans. It’s not cheap, but there’s a big chunk of game here to sink your teeth into.
Legends of Runeterra
Set in the same world as League of Legends, this one is a multiplayer card game that takes inspiration from a whole bunch of places. It’s fast, it’s fun and there’s a massive community of players waiting to take you on.
Sky: Children of the Light
A lovingly built social gaming experience that’s going to fill your heart with joy. Play together and explore a gorgeous fairytale land full of adventure, mystery and wonder.
This is almost certainly the best kart racing game on mobile. And yes, we’re counting Mario Kart Tour in that as well. Fast, furious and chock full of different modes and challenges.
Kingdom: Two Crowns
A sequel to one of the most interesting strategy games. Wander around a massive world, making decisions and trying to forge alliances. And this time you can take a friend along for the ride.
A fantastic old skool American Football game. It’s all about leading a team to championship glory. You pick the team, strengthen them up and take control when it’s time to play offensive snaps.
Dead by Daylight Mobile
A gory and violent multiplayer experience. Four players are victims trying desperately to escape a murderer’s lair. The other player? Well they’re the murderer, and they’re trying to butcher everyone before they get away.
Pokemon Cafe Mix
A charming and easy to play puzzler that’s crammed to the gills with heart and super cute Pokemon. A wonderful way to waste some time in the company of old, pocket-sized friends.
A super interesting roguelike with a unique combat system that forces you to think carefully about every move you make. This one is unlike anything you’ve played before.
Super Fowlst 2
A super fast and super frantic arcade action game starring a super-violent chicken. It builds on the foundations of its predecessors and creates something pretty special.
This one takes elements from Magic, the super popular deck-building game and weaves them into a real-time strategy experience reminiscent of Clash Royale. The end result is something pretty damn good.
An almost unbelievably impressive action RPG that owes a lot to the likes of Dark Souls. There’s a massive story to explore, huge bosses to defeat and plenty of horrible secrets to discover.
Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales
A single player RPG built around the mechanics of Gwent. There’s a massive and engrossing story to explore, and hours and hours of excellent gameplay to sink your teeth into.

Company of Heroes
One of the greatest RTS games finally comes to tablets. Perfected for touchscreen controls and with more content than you can shake a stick at, this is definitely worth checking out.

Soda Dungeon 2
A smart and engaging RPG that sees you building up teams of fizzy pop addicts and sending them into an underground labyrinth to collect loot and powerful new weapons.
A super interesting take on the choose-your-own-adventure game. It’s read by Eddie Marsan and plays in unique and intriguing ways. The sort of game you’ll sit down and play to the end.
A fast-paced drag racing game featuring some of the most expensive and exciting super cars in the world. It’s not the full Forza experience, but it’s a lot of fun.
Butterscotch Shenanigans does it again. This isn’t just a platformer, it’s a suite of tools for building and sharing your own platformer too. Cross platform play and a massive community are the cherries on the top of this delicious sundae.
A match-stuff game all about building a city. It takes the shape of a lot of other puzzlers, then builds something really interesting and engaging on top of it.
A fast-paced and aesthetically intriguing blaster that sees you taking control of a viking on an adventure to, well, kill everything that moves. One of the best arcade experiences this year.
A puzzling roguelike with a pyramid twist. Easy to pick up, and surprisingly addictive, there are some great ideas here that are going to keep you engaged.
Death Come True
An FMV adventure that takes place in a mysterious hotel. It’s dark, full of twists and is going to leave you close to the edge of your seat the whole time you’re playing it.
The Almost Gone
A gorgeous looking adventure game with a heart-wrenching story that’s going to have you entranced from the first second. You’re not going to be disappointed if you pick this one up.
Shadowgun War Games
An action packed, team-based shooter. Take on other players from around the world in a battle for eternal gun-themed glory. Think Overwatch, but in the palm of your hand.
