If I were to ask you to remember your first real fright, there’d likely be a 50/50 chance you’d have said “bedtime.” Being in the dark, unable to sleep for fear of what lies unseen, is a the hallmark of any good childhood. Games journalist-turned-developer Nathan Meunier (full disclosure: he was a Gamezebo freelancer long ago) took this idea and ran with it for his studio’s first project. It’s cute, but the subtlety of the creatures in the night still managed to take me by surprise.

While it’s a bit long in the tooth by mobile gaming standards, fans of this console horror series need to make sure they’ve played the mobile counterpart. Dead Space is a great example of how to do mobile game design right, and manages to tell a unique story set between the first two games. As yes, just like the console games, it’s @#$%ing TERRIFYING.
