Tell me if this sounds familiar lately: “USA! USA! USA!” America has been tearing it up at the World Cup this summer — even if they were finally knocked out in a 2-1 defeat by Belgium yesterday.

The Americans went a lot further than most had expected, and a lot of people attribute that to the fine goalkeeping of Tim Howard, Soccer Superman. Like most of you, we wish we were 1/64th as talented in the net as Mr. Howard. And while we won’t even get off the couch to try, and least we can fake it with any of the four games listed below!

Tiny Goalie

Does it seem to borrow its visual style and naming convetions pretty liberally from Tiny Tower? Absolutely. But that doesn’t mean it isn’t damned good. Don’t just take our word for it — ask 148apps and they’ll tell you the same. And yes, there’s even a World Cup Edition [iOS / Android].

Wii Fit (Soccer Heading)

wiifit

Whether it got you in shape or just made you spend an obscene amount of money on a balance board, there’s no denying that WiiFit was an ingenious little collection of mini-games and exercises. Soccer Heading put you in the net as you tried to block shots and dodge… pandas? Oh Nintendo. You so wacky.

Flick Kick Goalkeeper

PikPok’s Flick Kick series has covered a lot of ground, but rarely does it put you on the defensive side of play. GoalKeeper is the exception that proves the rule, and like all of their games, it’s good fun to boot. (If you’d rather be on the other side of the field, be sure to see which one of their games made our World Cup games list from June).

Goal Keeper

If you’d rather just grab a quick soccer session in your browser, Miniclip has you covered. Not unlike Soccer Heading in Wii Fit, you’ll be blocking balls and dodging obstacles — though this time you’ll do it by controlling a pair of gloves with your mouse.
