The genre has a huge selection of options on mobile like ports of classics, cross-platform MMORPGs, persistent Diablo-likes, online survival games, and autoplay P2W-fests. Different games suit different tastes, and we want to cater to all of them in this list.

Black Desert Mobile is the latest mobile MMORPG, and it offers a pretty decent version of the hit PC and console version for the smaller screen. The non-combat skills are present, as are many of the classes and races. Most importantly though, that sweet combat system is entirely intact.

World of Kings is the closest you’ll get to World of Warcraft on mobile. It features an incredibly deep class system, loads of dungeons and raids to beat, and a beautiful open world to explore.

If you had to pick just one MMORPG to play on your phone, make sure it’s Old School RuneScape. This is the very same MMO that you played on your browser as a kid during the late nineties and noughties with a revamped UI for mobile.
You’ll grind away to level up a vast variety of skills like combat, mining, crafting, fishing, and more, take on hundreds of quests, and explore a wide world full of achievements, NPCs, and open world PvP. It’s got everything and it does it all better than anyone else.

An absolutely enormous MMORPG with more than a few twists up its sleeve. For one thing it’s cross platform, so you can play with friends using the PC version from the comfort of the palm of your hand. It’s got a fresh look too.
There’s piles to love here, and the game plays really well on mobile. There’s some super deep character customization as well as a player-driven marketplace that lets you set your own prices for the loot you find.

Regular RuneScape is now available on mobile too, though only on Android and in early access, and will launch on iOS later this year. Much like Old School RuneScape, there’s an absolute ton of content on offer in RuneScape Mobile, though it’s much easier to get into and a lot more forgiving.
If you’ve never played a RuneScape before and find OSRS intimidating, this is a great place to start.

If you don’t get on with OSRS, which is sort of understandable given its age and hardcore nature, Villagers & Heroes is an admirable second option. It offers much the same gameplay as RuneScape but in an updated setting that sort of reminds us of Fable.
You’ll take on quests, battle enemies, grow in power thanks to new skills and equipment, and hunt powerful monsters out in the open world. There’s also plenty of crafting and side activities if you’d like to live the life of an NPC instead.

Lineage 2: Revolution is the king of autoplay MMORPGs. It’s the best looking, contains the most features, and the action-packed combat puts even Diablo III to shame. It’s got huge open world PvP for those that like that sort of thing too.
If you’re not a fan of autoplay or P2W, look away right away. This isn’t the game for you. But if you don’t mind having the AI do most of the legwork for you and aren’t averse to spending a penny or two, it’s well worth a look-in.

Adventure Quest 3D is a new contender in the world of MMORPGs, and it has some ways to go before it can take on the champions. There’s plenty of content though, and it gets weekly updates which is mighty impressive. It’s just held back a bit by lifeless combat and ugly visuals.

Order & Chaos Online is the closest you can get to World of Warcraft on mobile, so if that’s your favourite MMORPG this should be your first stop. Just bear in mind that Gameloft no longer supports it – or its recent sequel for that matter.

Crusaders of Light is Netease’s mobile MMORPG offerings, and it’s one of the better autoplay options. The visuals really stand out for this one and there’s a wide range of classes to play as. It’s also the game that Diablo: Immortal is closely modelled after, so if you’d like an early taste of what to expect from that, check this one out.

Asobimo is a prolific developer of MMORPGs for mobile, and Toram Online is arguably its best one yet. There are no classes so you can develop your character to your own liking and there’s a heck of a lot of customisation options.

AxE: Alliance vs Empire is very similar to Lineage 2: Revolution, so if for whatever reason that doesn’t do it for you but you still fancy an autoplay MMORPG, AxE might scratch that itch.

Celtic Heroes was one of the very first mobile MMORPGs and, as such, it’s beginning to show its age. It gets regular updates from its passionate team of developers though, and the community is very friendly.

Built from the ground up for mobile, this isn’t just a version of the PC classic, it’s a game in its own right. And we reckon it might be the best space MMO we’ve ever played.

Albion Online is like a jazzed up RuneScape. While it’s best played on PC, you can actually grab it on Android if you fancy playing while on the go. Just maybe avoid participating in any PvP.
