If you bought yourself a Nintendo Switch, chances are that you love co-operative multiplayer. Since the dawn of gaming, Nintendo has led the charge in co-operative gaming. From sitting next to a friend on the couch back in the day to playing online with friends, Nintendo has you covered no matter how you like to play.

This list focuses primarily on co-operative games. While many might feature a competitive aspect, you won’t find games that feature exclusively competitive modes. Let’s take a look at our 25 favourite co-op games on Nintendo Switch.

25 Best Co-op Games on Nintendo Switch

Cadence of Hyrule

Cadence of Hyrule is a Switch-exclusive roguelite by the makers of Necrodancer. It provides pretty similar gameplay too, with you moving to the beat of classic Zelda tracks as you collect treasure, beat up enemies, and explore dungeons.

The best part? You can play the entire game in two player local co-op.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker was one of the highlights of the underrated Wii U’s excellent library. It’s a cute puzzler that expanded on Super Mario 3D World’s Captain Toad levels to provide an entire game full of them. It supports two player co-op.

Cuphead

Cuphead is fiendishly difficult, so it makes sense that you might want to play it through with a friend. It’s basically a bullet hell shooter in which you battle a series of increasingly challenging bosses in nightmareish cartoon landscapes.

Diablo III

Diablo III has been going for absolutely years now, and has recently found a new lease of life on Nintendo’s Switch. You’ll battle through hellish environments, completing quests, beating monsters, and, most importantly, collecting loot. You can do it all with a friend too.,

Divinity: Original Sin 2

Divinity: Original Sin 2 is possibly the deepest RPG you’ll find on Nintendo Switch, and you can play it in its entirety in co-op with a friend from the comfort of your couch.

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze

Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is another excellent Wii U port that you can play entirely in co-op. It’s a gorgeous 2D platformer that features Donkey Kong and friends as they strive to save their home island.

Fire Emblem Warriors

Fire Emblem Warriors is an excellent mash-up of Fire Emblem and Dynasty Warriors. You’ll play as many of your favourite characters from Fire Emblem’s history as you work with a friend to liberate bases and take down bosses.

Guacamelee! 2

How about a co-op 2D platformer inspired by Mexican wrestling? Well, that’s what Guacamelee! 2 offers.

Kirby Star Allies

Kirby Star Allies is more of a 2D brawler than platformer. You and up to three other players can play through the entire experience in co-op, with one taking charge of Kirby and the remaining three any enemies that Kirby recruits along the way.

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime

Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime is a space shooter in which up to four players can pilot a spaceship together. Each pilot takes up one of numerous different stations, handling weapons, the engine, shields, and more.

Luigi’s Mansion 3

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is an excellent new exclusive, and arguably 2019’s finest Switch game. Luigi once again has to purge a bunch of ghosts from a haunted location, and this time you can help him in co-op multiplayer.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3

Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 revived the classic action RPG franchise exclusively on Switch, following the last entry’s release back in 2009. It’s a top-down dungeon crawler like Diablo that you can play with up to three other players in co-op.

Minecraft

Minecraft is arguably the best co-op game of all time. You can build stuff with a friend, go on adventures together, craft stuff for each other – the possibilities are endless.

Overcooked! 2 is an excellent display of co-op creativity. You and a few friends have to work together to try and cook a variety of dishes. Naturally, it’s not as easy as it sounds though.

Resident Evil Revelations 2

Capcom built Resident Evil Revelations 2 entirely around co-op, with one of you playing a traditional Resi character with a variety of guns and the other playing as a vulnerable sidekick.

Rayman Legends

Rayman Legends brings four player crazy platforming to Switch, with you and up to three friends helping Rayman and co solve a bunch of fiendishly difficult levels.

Trine 4

Trine 4 brings the warrior, wizard, and rogue back for a fourth helping of working together to solve a bunch of puzzle platforming levels.

Unravel Two
