One of the biggest weeks of the year for developers and technophiles alike, Google’s I/O conference is a celebration of what people love about the big G, as well as a roadmap for their coming year. But while big announcements like the Daydream VR platform might grab all the headlines, the Google Play team is taking this time to honor some of the best apps to grace their store in the last 12 months.

Nine winners were selected in total, five of which are playable gaming experiences. Here’s what Google Play believes are the very best games to enjoy on your Android phone from the past year:

Do we agree with their picks? Alphabear was our 2015 pick for Game of the Year, and Clash Royale is on the shortlist for consideration this year, so… Google may be on to something.
