There are more new games on the App Store than you can shake a stick at this week. We’ve broken plenty of sticks trying. Save yours, and read our picks for this week’s new releases.

Plunder Pirates

Plunder Pirates Tips Cheats Strategies

Ahoy, me harteys! If you’re looking for fresh take on Clash of Clans base-building, with absolutely adorable characters and the prettiest water I’ve ever seen in a mobile game (probably thanks to iOS 8 Metal optimization), this here be buried treasure! If you’re already playing, be sure to check out our Plunder Pirates Tips, Cheats and Strategies.

Beach Buggy Racing

Let’s face facts: Mario Kart is never coming to the App Store. Beach Buggy Racing might be an adequate substitute. BONUS: It too is optimized for iOS 8 Metal.

Leg·end·ar·y

screen1136x1136[1]

Another math game?! We sure have seen a lot of these lately. That’s ok, though. This one has monsters.

Light in the Dark

screen1136x1136[1]

We’ve seen more than enough light puzzles on the App Store over the years, but something about this one just looks satisfying.

Amazing Thief

screen1136x1136[1]

Only a few days old, and already at the top of the App Store? Developer Ketchapp seems to be able to pull this off pretty consistently. Some would say that this makes Amazing Thief worth a closer look.

Down Among the Dead Men

Inkle, the folks behind Sorcery! and 80 Days, are back with a gamebook and a dash of scurvy. Are you ready for some tales of the high seas?

Joinz

screen1136x1136[1]

Slide tiles around the board to form shapes? Sounds simple enough, but after a few days with this one, I promise: it becomes a real noodle-scratcher after a while.

Treasure Fetch – Adventure Time

screen1136x1136[1]

Riding atop Jake. Lots of fruit for you to take. A haiku I make.

Skater

screen568x568[2]

Finger-flipping skateboarding games have been pretty cool over the years, and this one looks like it won’t be any exception. That said, this looks to be the iOS debut from developer Frosch Media, so we’ll have to go hands on before we can really give it our seal of approval.

Welcome to the Dungeon

welcometothedungeon

Still wishing for a cool mobile Dungeon Keeper? It doesn’t follow the formula, but the spirit is sure here. Up your renown as an evildoer by setting loose mythical monsters on unsuspecting heroes.

Ninja Raft

screen1136x1136[1]

Looking for a new twist on tower defense? How about one where you’re building a raft that’s also kind of a dungeon? We’ve been waiting for this one since early 2013 – we’re excited to see how it turns out!

Goat Simulator

BE THE GOAT.

Poor Gladiator

screen568x568[1]

In real life your high score isn’t a number you accumulate, is the number of dollars you’ve paid off. Debt is the real enemy. Poor Gladiator runs with this notion, and has you paying off your creditors by earning gold as a gladiator-for-hire.

Tactics Maiden

screen1136x1136[2]

SRPG gamers are going to want to take notice of this one. Tactics Maiden has had a bit of a buzz over the last little while, and given the style of game, I’m more than a little shocked that this one launched free.

Ninja Jack

screen1136x1136[1]

Blackjack-powered fighting? It’s not the first time we’ve heard of such a thing, but we’re definitely intrigued enough to give it another go.

Huerons

screen1136x1136[1]

Another minimalist puzzle game arrives on the App Store. This one is about merging dots.

The Maze Runner

screen1136x1136[1]

Planning on seeing the movie? Me neither. But hey – the game is developed by PikPok. That alone makes it worth a look.

The Box Trolls: Slide ‘n’ Sneak

screen1136x1136[1]

Another movie tie-in game this week, The Box Trolls seems to mix a bit of platforming with some elements of stealth.

Puzzle Chef

screen1136x1136[1]

ChefVille meets Candy Crush? Maybe! This match-3 asks players to use the ingredients on the game board to make delicious dishes.
