The new release tap runs hot and cold some weeks, but this week, it’s scalding. We’ve got a huge PC port in The Banner Saga, a well-loved card game courtesy of The Pokemon Company, a fresh take on Fruit Ninja, and plenty more.

Did we miss your favorite release from this week? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

The Banner Saga

One of the best desktop games we’ve played all year finally comes to mobile. It’s a turn-based strategy RPG with a rich viking epic and Oregon Trail-style decision making. We seriously can’t recommend this one highly enough.

Fruit Ninja 2.0

screen1136x1136[1]

A free update for existing Fruit Ninja owners (ie, everyone), the latest version of the game has brought some massive updates with it. Blades and dojos now offer a variety of different gameplay effects, so switching between them should give you a unique experience every time.

I am a brave knight

“Do you have ten minutes to live a life?” That’s a hell of an opening line for an iTunes description. We still don’t know what it means, but we’re eager to find out. Let’s face it – the screenshots for this one are just dripping with cool.

PRY

screen1024x1024[1]

We’re big fans of interactive fiction here at Gamezebo, and PRY looks to try some bold new things in the genre (including 30 minutes of video content).

Card Dungeon

screen1136x1136[1]

Looking for an RPG that’s more D&D than Final Fantasy? Card Dungeon looks perfectly suited to scratch that itch.

Pokémon TCG Online

screen1024x1024[1]

Essentially the same game that’s been available in browsers for a few years (and on your tabletops for more than a decade), this is a great free-to-play introduction to one of the most popular collectible card games in the world.

Adventure Xpress

screen1136x1136[1]

Yes, it’s another match-3 RPG – but don’t yawn just yet! This one is coming from the powerhouse team-up of Adult Swim Games and PikPok. If anyone can restore our interest in the genre, I’m betting it’s these two.

Skylanders Trap Team

If you’ve read our Skylanders Trap Team review, you already know why this one is a must buy. It’s a pitch perfect release that proves tablets can provide gaming experiences comparable to those on home consoles. Plus, it’s tremendously good fun. Expect this one at retail on Sunday, October 5th.

The Sagas of Fire*Wolf

screen1024x1024[1]

The latest release from Tin Man Games is a biggie – it collects all four Fire*Wolf gamebooks into a single package. Consider the great bundles they’ve been releasing lately, I’m starting to sense a theme.

Galaxy Trucker

screen1024x1024[1]

A cult-hit in the tabletop market gets its long-awaited digital adaptation, and from what we hear, it’s pretty great. Can you build an amazing spaceship out of junk parts?

Thief Lupin2

screen1136x1136[1]

While I’ll admit to missing the original Thief Lupin, it seems as though I might be in the minority. Either way, this one looks to offer up some interesting platforming and gorgeous art direction.

Soul of Deva

screen1024x1024[1]

Fans of Kemco JRPG’s now have another to add to their collection. This one is about a world where demons terrorize humans, so… yep. it’s an JRPG alright.

Astro Party

screen1136x1136[1]

Same-device multiplayer where the spaceships can only turn right? Ok – we’re intrigued.

Star Warfare2: Payback

screen1136x1136[1]

A third-person shooter with both co-op and PVP… on your smartphone? Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the future.

The Magnificent Pixel Dynasty

screen1136x1136[1]

“Build your own fortress and attack the fortresses of other players” sounds really familiar, but we’re going to give this one the benefit of the doubt. Claiming roguelike influences and offering up a simplistic art style, The Magnificent Pixel Dynasty seems well worth a look.

Drone: Shadow Strike

screen1136x1136[1]

Why war up close when you can do it in a comfy chair? This is the first video game we can think of that focuses on piloting UAV’s. The irony is not lost on us.

Spirits of Spring

screen1136x1136[1]

The creators of Papo & Yo tell the tale of a Native child lost in winter. We admit, that’s not a lot of information to go on – but “the creators of Papo & Yo” should be enough to sell you on Spirits of Spring.

Tiny Troopers: Alliance

screen1136x1136[1]

The third entry in the Tiny Troopers franchise looks suspiciously like Clash of Clans, but if they manage to merge base-building ideas with Tiny Troopers gameplay, this could really be something special.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
