It’s the middle of January. Dump out that leftover eggnog in the fridge, toss out the turkey, and for goodness sake, CHARGE YOUR ANDROID PHONE.

You’re going to need to if you plan to get through all 15 of our picks for new Android games that you should be playing.

Crossy Road

Crossy-Road-Screenshot-3--Google-Play

One of the year’s biggest mobile hits was also one of its latest. Releasing on Android through the Amazon store in December (and on Google Play just last week), Crossy Road combines the arcade fun of Frogger with the endless gameplay of most modern mobile endeavors.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

If anyone asks you what the greatest Star Wars game of all time is and you don’t answer KOTOR, there’s only one explanation: you haven’t played it. It’s time to rectify that with the Android release of BioWare’s 2003 RPG classic.

Bear Winter

In a world of mundane matching games, Bear Winter is a breath of fresh air. With a simple narrative and end-results tied to your matches, every move you make has a weight attached to it. We’re calling it: this might just be the first sleeper hit of 2015.

Sky Gamblers: Storm Raiders

Air combat games? They’re awesome. If this is a sentiment you agree with, you’re probably quite familiar with the Sky Gamblers series. The third entry in the franchise (originally released on iOS in 2012) has finally made its way to Android. Dogfights for a dollar? That’s a hard bargain to argue with.

Galaxy Trucker

A great digital adaptation of an equally-great tabletop game is now on Google Play. Gamers will build a spaceship from a random collection of sewer parts, and then pray they can keep it all together as they try to earn more cosmic credits than the competition.

NOVA 3: Freedom Edition

If you’ve been hesitant about first-person shooters on mobile, this new version of NOVA 3 is your cost effective way to find out if they’re for you. This is the full game, absolutely free, augmented by ads rather than in-app purchases.

Biz Builder Delux

The latest Kairosoft game is a simulation about running a business. I feel like I’ve typed that sentence a thousand times over the last few years, but that doesn’t make it any less true. And if you’re a fan of Kairosoft simulations, this is just one more reason to rejoice! Warning though: we’ve seen more than a few complaints about bugs rendering this one virtually unplayable on certain devices (and have even heard the same from a member of our review crew).

Gunbrick

Having become one of the top developers of web games over the last few years, Nitrome has a massive back catalog of games they can remaster for mobile devices. And of those, I’m very glad to see they picked Gunbrick – a puzzle platformer about a cube with a gun on one side and a shield on the other.

Platform Panic

Want a taste of Nitrome’s genius without spending a dime? Platform Panic is a one-button quick-play game about perfect timing and single-screen scenarios.

Sol Invictus

Fans of Heavy Metal Thunder will be delighted to download this sequel. Sure it reads like a popcorn-heavy action flick — but if you’re into gamebooks, that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

Specular

It’s been a while since you’ve had a new twin stick shooter to play. Specular is hoping to break that cold streak with an infrared visual appeal, fast-paced gameplay, and more enemies than you can shake a stick at.

80 Days

80-Days-Android-04

Regular readers won’t be too surprised to learn that 80 Days has finally made the jump to Android. After all, it was one of our picks for the 10 best Android games of 2014. The mix of narrative and exploration made 80 Days one of the best interactive stories we’ve ever been a part of. If you’re a reader, don’t hesitate to pick this one up.

Battle Slimes

screen1136x1136[1]

Next time you’re out for coffee, surprise a bunch of strangers by inviting them to a game of Battle Slimes. You can gather four players around your Android tablet for this simple, fun, one-button arena experience.

Stormfall: Rise of Balur

screen1136x1136[1]

Thanks to a few incredibly successful years on Facebook, Stormfall already has a built-in audience. That said, it’s ok to be late to the party. Rise of Balur marks the series debut on mobile, and if you’re a fan of medieval army management-style games, it’s pretty much a no-brainer.

Dragon Mania Legends

The latest release from Gameloft, Dragon Mania Legends looks to combine elements of zoo, pet, and combat games under one roof. The results? Check back for our review later this week to find out!
