Has it been a good month for Android games? Considering two of titles you’ll find in this round-up can also be found in our 10 Best Android Games of 2014 article, I’m going to call that a big yes.

It’s been a great year for Android gaming, and as you can see by these new releases from the last few weeks, winter has given developers little cause to slow things down.

Hearthstone

Blizzard’s beginner-friendly take on the CCG genre netted gold as our Android Game of the Year, so you’d better believe it’s doing something right. Accessible gameplay, appropriate match-making, and fair free-to-play make this one an absolute joy round after round.

Scrolls

Exploding[1]

Another take on the CCG genre, this time by Minecraft creators Mojang, Scrolls combines card combat with figures on a board. Can you play the cards and move the pieces to destroy the other teams totems before they squish yours?

Exiles

Exiles-hoverbike

Ravensword on rocketbikes? Kinda! Exiles: Far Colony is a brand new sci-fi RPG from the creators of Ravensword: Shadowlands, and it promises to rocket the same spirit of play into the far out future.

Baldur’s Gate II: Enhanced Edition

baldurs gate ii

Fans of classic PC RPG’s, rejoice! The enhanced sequel to Baldur’s Gate (which originally appeared on iPad’s back in January) has finally made it’s way to Google Play. It’s a lot to cram into a little screen, but if you’re a fan of the classics, how can you pass this up?

World of Warriors

worldofwarriors1

There are a lot of free-to-play card battle games on the market, but so few give you any control over the battles themselves. World of Warriors remedies this with some great quick-time events, putting the fates of your historically-based fighters at the tips of your fingers.

Tales from the Borderlands

Love Telltale Games? How about Borderlands? If you answered yes to either (or both), Tales from the Borderlands is an absolute must buy; an adventure that might just be the best thing Telltale has put out yet.

Elune Saga

Looking for a card collecting RPG with plenty of style, impressive battles, and a generous free-to-play structure? Gamevil’s latest manages to hit the trifecta, capturing all three elements in one great little game.

Marvel Contest of Champions

While it will never be compared to complex games like Street Fighter, Kabam’s superhero take on fighting games is accessible as it is addictive. Besides, who isn’t looking for an excuse to add The Winter Soldier to their roster?

Gummy Drop

Match-3 games are a dime a dozen on the App Store, but Big Fish Games’ Gummy Drop did more than enough to stand out in its initial iOS release back in September. Now Android gamers have a chance to taste the gummy goodness for themselves.

Looney Tunes Dash

Bugs and his pals are always on the run from something, whether it’s the Road Runner escaping Wile E. Coyote, or Tweety Bird trying to stay out of the claws of Sylvester. With that in mind, can you think of a franchise that’s better for an auto-running adaptation?

Checkpoint Champion

checkpointchampion1

A crazy, fast-paced little racer, Checkpoint Champion challenges players to drive across checkpoints to extend their timers ad infinitum.

Dragon Quest III

This has been a good year from Dragon Quest fans. Square Enix has been doling out classic releases one after another, and the latest? It’s one of the series best.

World of Tanks Blitz

World of Tanks Blitz

7-vs-7 multiplayer on your phone? Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. World of Tanks Blitz plays a lot like its older brother, but with smaller maps and a shorter clock, it’s absolutely perfect for mobile gamers.

Chain Chronicle

A little bit Plants vs. Zombies, a little bit Final Fantasy, Chain Chronicle has been a huge hit in Japan for months. The English version debuted recently, and it’s just as much fun as we were hoping for.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
