Another week, another chance to find your next favorite iPhone or iPad game. This time around there’s a little something for everyone; RPG fans, action/strategy fans, soy-gathering riflemen — there’s even a new Smurfs’ Village game.

You’re either jumping with joy or shaking your head at that last one. Both reactions are perfectly valid.

Did we miss your favorite new release this week? Be sure to let us know what you’re playing in the comments below.

Knights of Pen & Paper 2

screen1136x1136[1]

Role-playing games started life around a tabletop with friends, so why not play a video game that recreates the real deal? The original Knights of Pen & Paper was a blast — so much so that it’s one of the few games we refuse to delete from our phones — so we’d like to think our high hopes for the sequel are well-placed.

Heroes and Castles 2

Build an army and pick the right troops to defend you castle — then jump into the fight alongside them and repel those invaders with your own sword. Foursaken’s first Heroes and Castles release has earned a worthy cult following. Can this sequel surpass the original?

Fearless Fantasy

fearless fantasy

Want an RPG with wild enemy designs and a unique, gesture-based combat system? Fearless Fantasy is trying to do something new for a genre steeped in tradition. It’s time to break some rules.

Tofu Hunter

tofu hunter

Sure eating animals is wrong — but is being a vegan any better? Just look at the faces on these cute soy beasts that end up at the wrong end of a rifle to make your tofu. Then again, you have to eat something. I guess you’d better buy some bullets.

Hardboiled

hardboiled

The iTunes description of Hardboiled describes it as “a Fallout inspired role-playing game with turn-based combat.” I don’t think I can back a truckload of money up to the developer’s door fast enough.

Gamebook Adventures 10: Lords of Nurroth

gamebook adventures 10

If you’ve finally washed yourself of your Sorcery addiction, it’s time to get back to another well-loved gamebook series. Tin Man Games has returned to their original IP once more, delivering the 10th chapter in the Gamebook Adventures saga. Like the past books, don’t worry — you won’t need to have read 1 thru 9 to follow the story.

Smurfs’ Village and the Magical Meadow

smurfs village

If you were to look at the history of mobile gaming, Smurfs’ Village would be the game you’d blame for the onslaught of free-to-play games that followed. As someone who struggles to see the appeal of The Smurfs, this has always puzzled me. Regardless, if you’ve been hoping for a return visit to your first free-to-play village, today’s launch should deliver exactly what you’re hoping for.

Nitro Nation Online

Like CSR Racing? That formula drew its inspiration from Creative Mobile’s Drag Racing series (now know as Nitro Nation). The latest installment is here, and its brought a healthy dose of team and tournament play with it.

Viking Remix Madness

vikingmadness

Rhythm gamers haven’t been given as much choice as others on mobile devices, so when something truly unique comes along, it’s always worth a mention. This one sets players in control of a viking ship that has to survive things like a literal rain of cats and dogs, and an encounter with Cthulhu. You’re welcome.

Tallowmere

tallowmere

“2D roguelike platforming” is about as niche a genre as you can get. But with procedurally generated dungeons, randomly placed enemies, and rooms that get bigger and harder the deeper you go, Tallowmere sounds like it should easily scratch that itch should you ever feel it.

The Barbarian

the barbarian

An action-RPG promising over 20 hours of content, The Barbarian looks less like a mobile game and more like the sort of polished indie title you’d find on the PlayStation Network or Steam. Does it play as good as it looks? We have no idea. But it looks really good.

Nom Chops

PagodaWest, the makers of Major Magnet, seem to be focusing on smaller mobile games right now. They recently released CircleFrenzy, and are already back with their next title — an endless eater. Sounds like me at a buffet.

Divine Academy

divine might

Realore, one of the kings of casual PC gaming, have just launched an iPad-only title that looks to merge elements of town-building with god games.

Jim Squires is the Editor-in-Chief of Gamezebo. Everything you see passes his eyes first, so we like to think of him as "the gatekeeper of cool stuff." He likes good games, great writing, and just can't say no to a hamburger. Also, he is not a bear.
