    Zynga closes three studios; consolidates NYC offices

    Times they are a-changing for powerhouse developer Zynga, who brought us such mobile/social phenomenon as Draw Something and Words with Friends.  The gaming company has announced this morning a few internal changes that will be taking place within the business, including the closing of three studios in McKinney, downtown Austin, and Baltimore, and the consolidation of Zynga's NYC offices.

    The state of Nevada has passed legislation legalizing online gambling and further paving the way to the day when it will be legal to lose (or win) all your money gambling on your phone.Specifically, the legislation allows Nevada to move forward in allowing online poker legal in lieu of federal legislation and to create interstate compacts with other states to allow their citizens to gamble on Nevada-based online casinos.Why am I sharing this on Gamezebo?  Because every single social game company (especially the social casinos) are salivating at the chance to offer legalized gambling in their games.

    Zynga and EA have reached a settlement in their ongoing lawsuit, Inside Social Games is reporting. For those who don't recall (it began half a year ago, after all), the impetus for this legal battle was EA's belief that Zynga stole several concepts from The Sims Social for use in The Ville.

Even crazier, Brett Ratner (director of films like Red Dragon, X-Men: The Last Stand, and the Rush Hour series) is the man in charge of producing it.

    Zynga bringing FarmVille 2 to mobile, announce major mobile push for 2013

    Zynga revealed in an earnings call today their intent to bring FarmVille 2—amongst other franchises—over to mobile. This is meant to be the first step in a pivotal change for the company, and according to Inside Social Games, CEO Mark Pincus also announced that Zynga will be adopting a "mobile first focus" for the future.

    Despite only being around for a few months each, CityVille 2, Party Place, and The Friend Game are all going to be shut down. The announcement was made earlier today during an earnings call, and in the words of Zynga CFO Mark Vranesh—as reported by Inside Social Games—"CityVille 2 missed our expectations despite pushing the envelope in 3D gaming and both The Friend Game and Party Place failed to achieve the mass market appeal Zynga franchise are known for."
