    It wasn't so long ago that the Steam Box seemed like an idyllic dream. But then, seemingly out of the blue, Valve CEO Gabe Newell revealed that the company would in fact be making one, and so would third-party companies. Yesterday at CES, Xi3 Corporation made good on the latter half of Newell's announcement, unveiling a Steam-enabled box for use in the living room.

    Valve acquires studio comprised of former PopCap employees

    Star Filled Studios, a start-up founded by former PopCap developers Tod Semple and Jeff Gates, has been acquired by Valve. Although Valve co-founder and managing director Gabe Newell stated the studio will be turned into a subsidiary, no details were provided about what exactly they'll be doing.

The download giant announced today that they're taking Steam into the living room with the introduction of Steam Big Picture: a major update to the gaming platform that tweaks it visually and functionally for your TV. Oh yeah... this is huge.     Developers react as Steam implements $100 fee for Greenlight

    It seems the light in Valve's community-driven game approval system has been proverbially downgraded to yellow. In an announcement pushed out September 4th, the company identified a "significant amount of noise and clutter" being submitted to Greenlight, resulting in less than ideal discoverability for worthy projects. As a result, they've added a $100 submission fee (which Valve will donate to charity) for all hoping to post their potential next big thing.
