Owlchemy Labs updates Jack Lumber, shows game to real lumberjacks
As a Canadian, I think I may be legally obligated to enjoy Jack Lumber. I mean, the game is filled to the brim with references to the Canadian wilderness; maple syrup gives you super powers. Patriotism notwithstanding, however, it also happens to be a wonderfully frantic title that combines puzzling with twitch instincts. This week, developer Owlchemy Labs released an update, and celebrated with a genius promo video...and wouldn't you know it, both the Canadian and gamer in me are giddy.
iOS puzzler Polymer gets Polymer…er with universal update, multiplayer, and more
It's no great secret that I'm a big fan of indie developer Whitaker Trebella's Polymer. Part Rubik's Cube, part Lego, the game tickles both right brain and left brain alike. Besides which, Trebella is a great example of pluck and determination: he wanted to learn how to design a game...so he did! So while many are poring over the new releases in today's App Store deluge, it's the "update" section of my iPad that has me excited.

By promising the world "Tiny Wings 2," and instead delivering an update to his original, high-flying smash hit, he's cut us off at the pass where a review is concerned. You see, we tend play and rate a game only if it's an entirely new beast, so to speak. On the other hand, however? We just got more Tiny Wings! That's awesome.
