Terry Cavanagh, developer of the minimalistic iOS masterpiece Super Hexagon (now on Android, too!) is looking to bring one of his earlier indie games, VVVVVV, to the iPhone. But don't go setting aside your iTunes gift cards just yet, because according to Cavanagh, the game won't be hitting the App Store anytime soon.
Super Hexagon, one of our favorite games from last year, is officially available for Android. If you're debating whether or not to pick it up, you should probably decide quick: it's briefly on sale for only $0.99.
We've known for a while that Super Hexagon would be making its way to Android, but the details about when have been kept under wraps. Well folks, today that sort-of kind-of changes: the game will arrive on Android "very soon." That would be the good news. The bad news, on the other hand, is that it won't be showing up on the Nexus 7.
Fun fact: September is the first month of the year to end with "-ember". As such, I usually spend most of it lighting stuff on fire. Because embers. This September, though, I decided to spend it burning my way through some awesome games. Given how many excellent ones were released, I definitely made the right choice.
There was a time when toy stores were filled with ridiculous items like shoddy Mario alarm clocks and Sonic bath toys. It may not have been pretty, but it was the golden age of games merchandise. Companies like Rovio and PopCap have tried to carry the torch, providing us with items like plushies based on game characters. But a whole slew of games have missed out on what we consider obvious merchandising opportunities, and we're here to fix that.
Think of some of the best mobile games this year. Horn. SQUIDS Wild West. Puzzlejuice. These are the kind of games that survive spring (or fall!) cleaning on your device; some of which stood out as our favorites of the summer. What would you pay for a chance to own their soundtracks? Twenty dollars a' piece? Nine dollars on iTunes? How does one dollar sound, for all of them? And more.
