In the same way that FrontierVille was a clear evolution of the FarmVille formula, Zynga's first foray into strategy gaming builds off of another immensly popular game: CityVille. Set to release tomorrow, Empires & Allies is described by executive producer Amer Ajami as "CityVille meets Risk," and features elements of city building, strategy, and even player vs player combat. Few developers have embraced the challenge of attracting "hardcore" gamers to Facebook quite like Kabam, and now it is once again attempting to court the Starcraft and Command & Conquer crowd with Global Warfare. You could visualize Companions as a more tactical, less action-oriented Gauntlet where you control all the characters. You don't get the hundreds of enemies that infested the catacombs of Gauntlet, but you get to manage all four dungeoneers, each with their own attacks and inventory. Army Attack is a game that's about territory. It's a military strategy game where you first have to find and conquer new land, before constantly defending it against a seemingly never ending supply of enemy forces. It has the looks and basic gameplay of the popular Advance Wars series from Nintendo, but because it takes place in a persistent world it feels much different, and is a great fit on Facebook.
The venerable King's Bounty series, which has been around since 1990 on PC, will be making its debut on Facebook this summer courtesy of strategy game publisher Nival. King's Bounty: Legions will introduce turn-based strategy gameplay along with player-versus-player (PvP) combat that allows Facebook friends to compete with each other through the popular social network.
Don't you just hate it when an army of evil robots appears in the sky? It always happens at the most inconvenient time. Thankfully, the invasion that's taking place in Robo Arena is one that humanity doesn't have to deal with. That's because one of the robots suddenly had a change of heart and decided that Earth needs a champion. As a result, the plucky little hero has a tall order in front of him: escape his brethren's space station and simultaneously defeat the evil army, all on his own.
