My Country attempts to differentiate itself from the current crop of Facebook city building with a focus on realism. There's a proper economy and you have to deal with things like producing electricity and managing environmental concerns. Somehow, these features don't make the experience overly complex, which makes for one of the few social city builders that actually does something new and interesting while staying accessible and fun.
My Country is a Facebook game developed by 6 Waves Games. It's a unique city building game that starts you out with a small village and over time lets you develop it into a productive, fully functioning country. You will have to take care to protect the environment and keep your residents happy. Play along with friends and visit their countries as you help each other out. Gamezebo's My Country quick start strategy guide will provide you with detailed images, tips, tricks, and hints on how to play your best game.
After the success of Monopoly Millionaires, EA and Playfish are now bringing another popular board game to Facebook, this time in the form of Risk: Factions. We haven't seen the game in action yet, but it looks like it will be much less serious than the board game, with gangly zombies and donkeys pulling cannons. And we've got the teaser trailer to prove it.
Playdom is the latest social game developer to delve into the world of military strategy, and will be doing so with its upcoming Facebook title City of Might. LandGrabbers is a sort of a Risk-like area control game that's inspired by real time strategy and even a little bit of tower defense, though you neither build towers or control units directly. You'll be in charge of an army tasked with taking over all the control points of each map, marked with buildings. Your job is to swarm and take over each of these unoccupied or enemy buildings using your units.
While it's not without its flaws, Kixeye's Battle Pirates is a shining example of just how far Facebook has evolved as a gaming platform in the last couple of years. The concept isn't terribly different from the studio's successful Backyard Monsters, but the welcome innovation of battling other players in real time marks a significant step in creating an experience similar to Command and Conquer on Starcraft II on Facebook. In short, if you're looking for a game with elements of genuine real-time strategy, resource harvesting, and base building all in one appealing package, Battle Pirates is worth a look. Just be prepared for a handful of bugs.

Empires & Allies is CityVille with guns. At least, on the surface. It takes the formula that has made CityVille the biggest game to ever grace Facebook, but builds off of it, adding engaging, approachable combat and a narrative that creates a true sense of progression. This leads to an overall better game, and one where you're doing more than simply building up the biggest island nation possible: you're also defending it from evil.
