Born Into Darkness Review
Not even zombies can come close to matching the widespread pop culture appeal of vampires these days. They've gone from being the filthy monsters of European folklore to the dark, powerful and sexy stars of their own novels (Anne Rice's The Vampire Chronicles), movies (Dracula), and TV shows (Angel, True Blood). Born Into Darkness is a hidden object game that exploits the vamp theme too, but not in a particularly compelling way.

Defend and Defeat: Kingdoms puts players in the shoes of a noble who is trying to conquer and reunite the land after an inexperienced teenage couple thrust into the roles of king and queen let it fall to chaos. That's about all the story we're provided in this humdrum medieval-themed strategy affair from Pigdog Games before being thrust into a series of 17 missions, each of which involves building up a town from scratch, defending it from enemies, and satisfying a series of objectives.

G5 Entertainment's Virtual City does a good job at delivering a challenging and attractive city building game - but it's not a flawless sim either.

Role-playing games (RPGs) routinely clock in at 30 hours of gameplay or more, but bigger is not always better. Sometimes too much of that time is spent stumbling through maze-like dungeons, scrolling past overly long-winded dialogue, and being pummelled by endless random monster encounters. Refreshingly, Dawn's Light avoids these common pitfalls. The sprite-based RPG from John Wizard Games is a smart, well-balanced adventure that should prove engaging and creative enough to impress even the most jaded of RPG veterans.

Catan Mobile Review
The Island of Catan is a happening place. It's a hopping chunk of land that's so laden with resources that it has to beat settlers off with a big stick. Everyone wants to stake their claim to a major piece of this hexagonal floating rock in a quest for supreme colonial dominance, but they'll have to plan their turf expansion and resource gathering very carefully if they want to come out ahead. Though it never quite comes to physical blows, this island competition can get pretty cutthroat in a hurry.
