One day the peaceful land of Shangri-La gets destroyed by burning meteors and ash falling from the sky. In Aerie: Spirit of the Forest by Intenium, you'll help Aerie, a friendly fairy supported by will-'o-wisps, to restore this country by curing the damaged nature and the three fallen shrines. Players can expect a solid resource management title with a fairly innovative and whimsical presentation.
Although environmental protection has become less of a hot topic oer the last two years, it's still a popular theme in games. The latest title with a "green" spin is Build It Green: Back to the Beach, from developer Nat Geo Games. The new building simulation, which could be the twin of Merscom's Plan It Green, asks the player to revamp various polluted districts into prime examples of green suburbs and industrial zones.
Credit where credit is due: Whisper of a Rose is nothing if not ambitious. Rose Portal Games' first casual role-playing game is a deep, sprawling fantasy experience set in multiple worlds filled with visually diverse environments. Unfortunately, it also suffers game-ending glitches, stale dialogue, and questionable interface and game design decisions. Still, there's a lot more good than bad in this atypical RPG.
You may have noticed a fair number of zombie games being released over the past year - the undead are clearly the in-thing at the moment. Not only does Zombie Pirates feature brain-munchers, but it also takes inspiration from another recently zombie game, namely PopCap's wildly popular Plants vs Zombies.
Castle Vox is a new turn-based-strategy game in development by strategy game specialists Sillysoft. Board game enthusiasts should particularly enjoy Castle Vox since it combines elements from both Diplomacy and Axis & Allies.
Here's a little preview of Aerie - Spirit of the Forest, an environmentally-conscious resource management game from Fix-it-Up developer World-Loom. After a natural disaster leaves Shangri-La in ashes, Aerie and the will-o-wisps must bring the land back to life.
Up until now I've never played a match-3 puzzle tactical rpg before, but since I've played ChronoSgear I suppose I can scratch that very specific genre off my list. It's an interesting mash-up of genres that in all honesty shouldn't work, yet somehow really does. If you're a fan of match-3 puzzlers or tactical combat games then you're bound to find something interesting in this totally unique offering.
Apparently door-to-door cookie selling is a pretty cutthroat business... at least according to Sandlot's upcoming strategy game Cookie Domination. You'll help innocent-looking little girls protect their turf from the devious new cookie clubs that begin selling their sweets to your potential customers.
