As a PC gamer, it's hard not to love Steam. Not only do they have one of the most varied and complete collections of digital content on the web, but the social side of things is seemingly second to none. If I want to see what games my friends are playing, jump into a multiplayer match with strangers, or even buy digital gifts during the holidays, Steam has me covered. Amazon.com, the leading e-retailer on the Web, has officially launched it's Appstore for Android. Amazon's previous foray into casual games, buying Reflexive Entertainment for its studio and distribution technology, didn't pan out so well. Amazon.com is not exactly on the same level of Big Fish Games or Valve's Steam when it comes to digital distribution. But, the Android Marketplace could be a lot more successful.Is Valve more profitable than Google and Apple?

According to Valve CEO Gabe Newell as reported in Forbes, Valve is more profitable than Google and Apple per employee. Since Google generates $350,000 per employee and Valve has 250 employees, that would mean that Valve generates at least $87.5 million in profit yearly. It's an interesting number, given that Valve specializes in the PC games market, which supposedly is dead compared to social and iOS games, according to the experts.
