Edmund McMillen Interview, Part 1: The Basement Collection
By Dant Rambo
You may know him best for Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac, but Edmund McMillen has been making games for quite a while. He'll be compiling much of his earlier work in The Basement Collection, a release that's bursting at the seams with extra content and hidden goodies. To learn more about the content-rich release (and so many other topics), we met up with him at his Santa Cruz residence and had a lengthy conversation.Hold on to your wallets! The Steam Summer Sale is here
Just when you thought your wallet was safe as all those fantastic indie bundles began to die down, this hits. The downside: you'll probably end up selling all of your possessions outside of your computer. The upside: you'll have some of the best games the industry has to offer at the lowest prices you can find anywhere. The cause of all this madness? It's the Steam Summer Sale 2012.Green means go (make games): Steam puts the approval process in users’ hands with Greenlight
By Eli Cymet
Have you ever seen a game on Steam and thought to yourself, "wow! This looks terrible! I never would have let this on here?" Or for that matter heard about a developer whose title was rejected from Valve's popular download service, all the while knowing it deserved a chance? Well, you big know-it-all, soon you'll be able to do something about it. Also, I apologize for calling you a know-it-all.Hero Academy hits Steam, adds Team Fortress 2 team, breaks coolness barriers
By Eli Cymet
I don't always agree with everything that goes on here at Gamezebo. Take, for example, our official review of Hero Academy. My opinion falls more closer to the user reviews, which gave it a glowing 4.75. Whether it's Robot Entertainment's excellent approach to freemium, the genius of its five-move-at-a-time asynchronous play, or the lovingly crafted fantasy teams, I don't think I could like the game any more than I do. Or at least I didn't until today. Is Steam doing wrong by developers? EA’s head of Origin thinks they could be
By Eli Cymet
On the heels of our e-mail chat with Brawesome about valuing the games you make, a headline-catching talk with the chief of EA's Origin download service seems like the perfect way to cap off the day here at Gamezebo. In a detailed interview with gamesindustry.biz, David DeMartini dished on Origin's plans to win over the public, and his thoughts on a certain download competitor you may have heard of.Duels of the Planeswalker 2013 gets release date, still lacks customization?
By Eli Cymet
When we previewed Magic the Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalker 2013 (cue deep intake of breath), we gushed about the series' long awaited arrival on iPad, and encouraged new players to give the series - and card game - a chance whenever the game's then-mysterious release date arrived. Well wait for your wait no more! Duels of the Planeswalker 2013 hits virtual shelves June 20th, so you can begin your wait without delay. Don't say we never get you anything nice!Binding of Isaac “mega expansion” set to mega-expand your terror and joy May 28th
By Eli Cymet
On the strength of over 500,000 downloads and much bloody slayage, the macabre rogue-like The Binding of Isaac is getting what is being dubbed as a "mega expansion" on May 28th. From the lovably twisted minds of indie developers Edmund McMillen (of Super Meat Boy fame) and Florian Himsl, the vaguely biblical and entirely clever dungeon-crawler-allegory earned a four-star stamp of approval from us the first time around.Apple meets with Valve, rumored to make a new videogames console
When you're the CEO to the world's largest company, people tend to take notice at every action you make. So when Apple's CEO Tim Cook was reportedly spotted at game software giant Valve's main offices this Friday, rumors began to fly. The largest amongst them, according to Cult of Mac, is the possibility that Apple is working on a home videogame console. While these kinds of rumors pass by all the time, Tim Cook's meeting with Valve makes this story much more interesting.
