Steam honors All Hollows’ Eve with massive sale
By Dant Rambo
BOO! Did I scare you? If I didn't, Steam's Halloween sale certainly will. They're marking down prices on a ton of titles, ranging from the moderately eerie to the downright horrifying. Bring on the nightmares!Greenlight Spotlight: M?K

I have a confession: I've never played Minecraft. In fact, I probably never will play Minecraft. I love the concept of boundless creation, but its particular brand of retro-looking sandbox play just doesn't appeal to me. No, I'm more of a Little Big Planet kind of person; that game allows for wonderful, whimsical creation but inside a world of more clever machinations. Wait a minute, what!? There's a game that combines them both?Big Picture has changed the way I shop on Steam

I don't know about you, but I hate labels. I've never considered myself a "PC gamer" or a "console gamer." Having said that, I still have my biases. For example, I feel I have an innate understanding for what belongs on my desktop and what belongs in my living room. As Kipling once wrote, "East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet."First wave of successful Steam Greenlight games announced
By Dant Rambo
The Steam Greenlight initiative got off to a bit of a rocky start, but that hasn't kept it from doing what it was created to do: Bring more games to Steam. Valve has announced the first 10 games to garner the upvotes required to receive full releases on the Steam platform, and it's a pretty impressive lineup. From diehard survival horror fans to random-aliens-getting-high-in-the-jungle enthusiasts, there's something here for everyone.Think Big Picture: Valve launches Steam for your TV
By Eli Cymet
One small shift for Valve, one big picture for gamers. The download giant announced today that they're taking Steam into the living room with the introduction of Steam Big Picture: a major update to the gaming platform that tweaks it visually and functionally for your TV. Oh yeah... this is huge. Say goodbye to the days of sitting, hunched over your computer, playing PC games all day, and hello to the days of...sitting, hunched in front of your TV...playing PC games all day.Developers react as Steam implements $100 fee for Greenlight

It seems the light in Valve's community-driven game approval system has been proverbially downgraded to yellow. In an announcement pushed out September 4th, the company identified a "significant amount of noise and clutter" being submitted to Greenlight, resulting in less than ideal discoverability for worthy projects. As a result, they've added a $100 submission fee (which Valve will donate to charity) for all hoping to post their potential next big thing.Game designers, start your engines: Steam Greenlight is go!

Just last month we shared the news about Steam's "Kickstarter without the money" program Greenlight. It's because we love sharing. And so, it seems, does Valve, who pitched the service as a way to put the publishing power more squarely in the hands of fans. Today, the digital download giant took Greenlight live, and we're here to share some of the details. Doesn't it all feel so warm and fuzzy?Edmund McMillen Interview, Part 2: The Games Industry

Greetings, and welcome to part two of our five-part interview with the one and only Edmund McMillen. Yesterday's entry was all about upcoming title The Basement Collection, a compilation of some of McMillen's work before Super Meat Boy and The Binding of Isaac. Today, we tackle a broader subject: The current state of the gaming industry.
