Strike Knight Review
By Jim Squires
Puck games have long been a staple of local bars and pubs all around the world. While it was never the most popular of these games, puck bowling is a pub-based pastime that a lot of us hold near and dear to our hearts. Strike Knight, from the makers of the ever-popular Paper Toss, is looking to spread the love of puck bowling around the world once again - this time by putting it in your pocket.MLB Power Pros Touch 2010 Review
By Jim Squires
One of the longest-standing franchises in video game baseball, the popular Japanese Power Pros series has yet to really find traction in the west. Originally debuting in North America in 2007 (but much, much earlier in Japan) the games have received critical praise, but it's done little to make them a household name. Now in its second year on the iPhone, Power Pros has acquired licensing rights for Major League Baseball, making it the first game on the iPhone that will let you step into the batter's box of your favourite team.International Track & Field Review
By Ryan Hewson
When I was just a young nerdling, I used to play a vaguely absurd joystick-destroying game called Track & Field on my Commodore 64. It was an early ancestor of what we now call minigame collections -it offered a range of events, each of which played out differently. Track & Field was great fun, as it was the definition of a quick hit. The events lasted anywhere from ten to thirty seconds. This could have been a great iPhone game concept based on the pedigree. Emphasis on could.Skate It Review
By Ryan Kuo
How does a mainstream title look when squished carelessly onto the iPhone? A lot like a bug under a microscope. You need to squint to make out the details, though you'll probably cringe first; you fiddle with some awkward controls; and you try to do your homework without tearing your hair out. Skate It appears to be an App Store port of the Nintendo DS and Wii version of EA's excellent Skate. But it's much less straightforward than you would think. The skateboarding title only goes to show that making an effective iPhone game takes more than slapping tilt and swipe functionality onto an existing game. This should have been rethought from the ground up.Pool Pro Online 3 Review
By David Stone
Playing pool in real life is a tricky game involving muscle control and cold calculation. Playing Pool Pro Online 3 on your iPhone takes away the muscle problem, but the intricate physics are so well-done, you'd swear it was the real thing.Circus Marcus Review
By Jim Squires
When I was a little boy I always wanted to run away and join the circus. In retrospect I can't imagine why. Clowns are scary, elephants smell, and don't even get me started about the man-eating lions. But despite my grown-up dislike of the circus, Circus Marcus for the iPhone reminded me that there's still some fun to be had under the big top.Glow Hockey Review
By Lisa Cowdell
I remember the first time I played air hockey at an arcade. My brother beat me pretty badly, but that just motivated me to learn the techniques required to win. After several hours, very sore knuckles, and some friendly family competition, I learned to be pretty good at controlling the puck as it slid, high speed across a cushion of air. When I found out that iPhone app Glow Hockey is really just like Air Hockey with fluorescent glowing pieces and parts, my childhood memories came back to me.Flick Fishing Review
By Lisa Cowdell
Let's admit one thing about mobile games. Sometimes we find ourselves playing them when we should be doing something else. Like in the middle of a meeting - when you're supposed to look like you're checking email or doing something productive - but you're really just trying to sneak in a few extra minutes playing your favorite game on your phone. Well, let me warn you right now - Flick Fishing is NOT a game you can play without everyone knowing what you're doing.
