GEO Hunters Review
Geo Hunters is jam-packed with features, but somehow still manages to feel lacking. It's part role playing game and part social game, with monster collecting and geo-location. But none of the elements work all that well and together they create a game that's confusing and often boring.
School 26 Preview
The hardest part about going through high school isn't necessarily getting good grades, but navigating the complex social hierarchies that exist among classmates and friends. School 26 is an upcoming casual sim that lets players step into the shoes of a student named Kate as she tries to make friends and keep them at her 26th new school.
Treasure Land Review
Treasure Land is a Treasure Isle clone, which is a fairly unusual thing to encounter in early 2011. What's interesting about Treasure Land is how it clones Treasure Isle. While the current version of Treasure Isle puts a big emphasis on quests that require players to spam notifications at each other, Treasure Land is effectively a clone of the Treasure Isle that launched in early 2010. There are few quests and you only really need to work with other players to obtain certain key items. Otherwise, the emphasis is on clicking tiles to dig for treasure.
Woho World Review
Woho World is a management sim about running a sunny island resort that begins with a typical tutorial. The tutorial asks you to purchase a Ghost House from the store and put it on your island, so you know how to purchase and place buildings. Diligently I clicked upon the store, but what I found there was distressing. The purchase arrow was pointing not to a Ghost House, but to a River Drift ride. Purchasing and placing the River Drift did not satisfy the tutorial. Scouring the atore revealed that the Ghost House the game wished me to purchase was a locked item that wouldn't be available to me until I reached level 22.
Detour Preview
Detour is an upcoming download that developer Sandswept Studios describes as a "construction-based real-time strategy war game." where players "pit their minds and their might against one another in order to safely guide a hapless delivery truck across a deadly battlefield." Wild West Town Review
The Old West is undergoing something of a Facebook revival these days thanks to titles like The Oregon Trail and FrontierVille, and we've reached that stage where one Western-themed game feels much like the other. Clipwire Games' new Wild West Town moseys far in this precarious direction, but it thankfully distinguishes itself by offering a memorable experience based the popular FrontierVille formula. Here we have a game with a story to tell; indeed, you might say its strength is that it has a story at all.
