Tradewinds Legends Review
The course of history is often determined by trade. Shrewd business sense and quality trade routes can grow an empire, bankrupt potential enemies, and sometimes lead to war. Sandlot Games' Tradewinds Legends, originally released for PCs, does a remarkable job of showing how powerful a tool trade can be. The game's port to the iPhone/iPod Touch manages to convey this concept well, but a few shortcomings in the execution keep it from being a truly great portable experience.

I sometimes wonder what it would have been like to have lived in the Wild West of the 1800's here in my home state of California: the gold rush, the building of missions, and every man for himself. With wonderful games like Westward, I can play cowgirl and never have to worry about getting bit by mosquitoes. Westward is an iPhone version of the PC simulation/strategy game developed by Sandlot Games, although this version was developed by Binoteq.

When most grannies grow to the ripe old age where their momentum slows dramatically, their days tend to be filled with more relaxing pursuits like reading, playing cards, socializing, and napping. Not Super Granny. She gets to battle the forces of evil with blowtorches, jackhammers, and lethal handbags in order to round up her perpetually missing feline companions. Though it's much like past games in the series, Super Granny 5 continues Sandlot Games' fine tradition of lighthearted elderly empowerment and frantic platforming puzzle action.
